Description

Hanna Kim’s magical, childlike works question the nature of reality, imagination, and existence by portraying the story of her relationship with Bunny, an imaginary companion first befriended through a window. Once they resolve to meet by digging tunnels, however, Bunny mysteriously disappears, and so the character Hanna cautiously steps into the outside world in search of her lost companion. When exhibited together, Kim’s full cycle of Bunny paintings, drawings, and sculptures are arranged like an animation storyboard, further enlivened and framed using a toy camera. In this fictional narrative about two lost friends, the artist posits that all interactions with the outside world are voluntary.
