Description

Born in Portland, OR in 1883, grew up in Seattle and attended the University of Washington where she majored in chemistry. She worked in Edward Curtis’ studio, studied photographic chemistry in Dresden, Germany, and had her first solo exhibition in Brooklyn in 1914. She lived to 93, had three children, published technical papers, and has work in the International Museum of Photography in Rochester NY, the Smithsonian, the Library of Congress, and the JSMA.
